A Method for Locating Fault Section of DC Lines Based on Signal Analysis

With the rapid development of modern power system, DC line plays an increasingly critical role. However, some traditional detection methods are difficult to identify and locate DC line faults effectively, and DC line fault location faces serious challenges. For improvement, this paper presents a new method of DC line fault section location based on the signal analysis by using intelligent electronic device (lED). The method collects the voltage data at the time of fault in real time, adopts the linear prediction coding algorithm, Hilbert transform, and combines the main frequency identification and instantaneous amplitude analysis to realize the accurate judgment of the fault section. Finally, simulation tests verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Compared with traditional methods, the proposed method has improved the accuracy of fault location and the clarity of indicators, which is helpful to solve the key problems in DC line fault detection.
