Integrated Strategies for Developing Cost-Effective Hybrid Power Systems for Sustainable Energy Solutions

This paper explores comprehensive strategies for the development and estimating cost of remote hybrid energy for wind and Solar Photovoltaic(PV) systems specifically in the areas of rural communities. Hybrid solar PV-wind energy generating systems integrate the two energy sources of renewable technologies to increase the efficiency and reliability of power supply and minimize dependence on energy storage solutions in off-grid configurations. Their popularity is growing in remote areas, driven by advancements in renewable technology and rising petroleum prices. As of now, approximately 10,000 villages in India remain without electricity, while those that are electrified often experience inconsistent service and poor power quality. This issue is exacerbated by the characteristics of rural populations, which tend to be dispersed, have low incomes, and exhibit minimal power consumption. Extending the power grid to these areas is often complex and costly, deterring major energy providers. Renewable energy sources, particularly hybrid energy methods combining wind and solar photovoltaic(PV) power, provides the reliable electricity in remote locations. These systems not only offer high-quality power at a lower economic cost but also deliver significant social and environmental benefits. Therefore, there is an vital need to design and develop efficient hybrid power generation systems to address the challenges of rural electrification effectively. The study explores the improvement of a wind solar photovoltaic(PV) hybrid standalone techniques, focusing on its operational mechanisms, design parameters, performance metrics, and associated costs for power generation. It emphasizes the goals and philosophy behind utilizing locally available renewable energy resources as a sustainable solution for providing continuous power supply while mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. MATLAB/SIMULINK executes the optimization analysis on all the hybrid wind-solar Photovoltaic(PV) proposed strategies. This initiative serves as a benchmark in the energy production sector, addressing electricity shortages during peak demand and supporting sustainable development through the integration of traditional and modern scientific approaches.
