High-Sensitivity and Wide Linear Range All-Fabric Piezoresistive Pressure Sensor for Feet Motion Monitoring

With the growing interest in human health and wearable smart electronics, all-fabric flexible pressure sensors have gained significant attention for their potential application in motion monitoring and intelligent healthcare systems. However, achieving a wide detection range while maintaining high sensitivity and linearity remains a challenge. Here, a graphene-based all-fabric pressure sensor was designed and fabricated, which uses a silicone adhesive dot array as the isolation layer. The silicone adhesive dot array was sandwiched between the Ag interdigital electrodes and the graphene-based sensitive layer to form a sandwich structure and realize the self-encapsulation of the sensor. Moreover, the silicone adhesive dot array reduced the contact area between the sensitive layer and the interdigital electrodes, decreasing the initial current of the sensor and thus significantly improving the sensitivity and detection range of the sensor. The pressure sensor exhibits a wide detection range of 100 Pa–140 kPa, a high sensitivity of 23.05 kPa-1, and an exceptional linearity (R² = 0.94) in detection range. Moreover, the sensor exhibits a robust durability over 5000 cycles, and a fast response time of 17 ms during pressure loading. The constructed sensor holds great promise for deployment in real-time monitoring of pressure responses, making it suitable for applications such as wearable electronics, feet motion monitoring, and biomedical diagnostics.
