Manor A in a closest suburban of Theodosia: preliminary results

The paper offers preliminary results of the archaeological investigations of Manor A located in a nearest suburban area of the ancient city of Theodosia. Survey studies involving geophysical methods revealed the traces of a quite dense building structures on a significant territory. One of these building complexes named Building A was found in 1982 and has been explored since 2019 by Theodosian Archaeological Expedition of The State Hermitage Museum. The part of a large building counting by the moment about 150 m2 in square was unearthed. Finds discovered during the excavations enable us to date Building A by the period from the turn of V – IV BC up to the end of IV BC or the very beginning of III BC. The Building A was reconstructed at least twice during its lifetime. On a first building stage the structure was functioning as a vinery: parts of two pressing platforms and a space for placing pithoi indicate it clearly. Archaeological investigations of Manor A building structures are not finished.
