Microistorii din Bucovina – condici cronicale. Condica cronicală a Parohiei Tișăuți
The chronicle records from Bukovina, introduced in 1890, are valuable documents for historical and genealogical research, providing demographic, cultural, and religious information about local communities, thus contributing to the understanding of Bukovinaʼs cultural heritage. In this issue of “Annals of Bukovina”, we publish the “Chronicle Record of the Orthodox Spiritual Ministry of Tișăuți”, brought to us through the kindness of the parish priest of Tișăuți, Mircea Bejenar. The chronicle presents information about the history of the locality, the church, important events that took place in the parish, cultural and charitable institutions, the community of believers, with the last entries covering the period 1949–1967. It also highlights the role of the church in the society of the time, its influence on the education of the youth, and on civic and moral attitudes. Unlike other chronicle records, censorship and self-censorship determined by political reasons are more evident here, with direct interventions on the text and the removal of pages that were not in line with the ideology of the time or the censorʼs views.
