Despre cărturarii Bucovinei, cu pasiune și acribie. O nouă monografie dedicată lui Ion G. Sbiera

The article is a review of the volume Elena Pintilei, ‟Scholars of the Modern Era: I. G. Sbiera (1836–1916)”, Cluj-Napoca, Mega Publishing House, 2023, 528 p. The monographic study dedicated to such an eminent cultural figure as Ion G. Sbiera serves as an excellent opportunity for in-depth documentation and analysis of his life, work, and the influence he had in his field and society in general. As we went through the volume written by Elena Pintilei, we found that it offers the reader a comprehensive and current view of Ion G. Sbiera’s personality, a detailed presentation and analysis of his work, and brings to light rare (or unknown) archival documents (including from the family archive of the Chernivtsi professor’s descendants) from the country and abroad, which otherwise would have been difficult for interested researchers to access, as well as an almost exhaustive bibliography. We believe that all these are welcome in the realm of Romanian research.
