A method for measuring the angular velocity of dual-spin projectiles based on the three-axis accelerometer of the anti-rotation head of the fuze
Abstract The angular velocity information of the projectile axis swing is coupled with the measurement data of the three-axis accelerometer installed on the anti-rotation head of the fuze. However, traditional gyroscope-free inertial navigation systems require a large number of accelerometers and fail to fully utilize the output data of accelerometers at different moments. To address this issue, this paper puts forward a means of gauging the angular velocity of dual-spin trajectory correction projectiles, relying on the accelerometer measurement data from the anti-rotation head. This is achieved through an analysis of the outer lever arm effect error model pertaining to dual-spin trajectory correction projectiles. The simulation outcomes indicate that the average errors of the measured values of the pitch angular velocity as well as the yaw angular velocity are approximately 0.007 rad/s, and the root mean square errors are approximately 0.013 rad/s. Moreover, the measurement accuracy in the uncontrolled stage is ten times that in the controlled stage. This angular velocity measurement method only requires a three-axis accelerometer and makes full use of the accelerometer measurement data at different sampling moments. It can efficiently extract the angular velocities in the pitch and yaw directions of the projectile, presenting a highly significant method for measuring the projectile’s angular velocities, which is crucial for the dependable utilization of the strapdown inertial navigation system without a gyroscope in dual-spin trajectory correction projectiles.
