The AC Conduction Mechanism and DC Feature of Poly(methyl methacrylate)/Poly(vinyl acetate)/tert-butyl Ammonium Iodide/Melanin Blended Polymers
Our research aimed to produce the novel poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc)/tert-butyl ammonium iodide (TBAI) x wt%/melanin system to employ them for energy storage purposes. PMMA/PVAc/TBAI/x wt% melanin composites were prepared using the casting procedure. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy devices were utilized to explore the impact of melanin on the structure and morphology of the PMMA/PVAc/TBAI/melanin blended polymers. The highest dielectric constant values were achieved in the PMMA/PVAc/TBAI/0.22 wt% melanin blended polymer. The dielectric constants and energy density consistently increased at elevated temperatures. All samples exhibited the correlated barrier hopping model. Sample with x = 0.05 demonstrated the highest electric impedance values. The ionic conductivity altered by the quantity of melanin in the blended polymer and also the temperature. The activation energy ( E a ) values for the PMMA/PVAc/TBAI blend ranged between 0.73 eV and 1.07 eV depending on the temperature range. The E a values for increasing or decreasing were contingent upon the amount of melanin incorporated into the PMMA/PVAc/TBAI blend and/or the temperature range.
