Analysis of the Status Quo and Development Trend of New Energy Storage Technology
New energy storage technologies, as the key to building a new energy system, are experiencing rapid growth and technological diversification. The government work report first proposed the development of new energy storage, marking its important position in national economic development. This article analyzes the advantages, challenges, and development trends of main new energy storage technologies, including lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, flow batteries, compressed air energy storage, flywheel energy storage, gravity energy storage, thermal energy storage, supercapacitor energy storage, and hydrogen energy storage. Overall, new energy storage technologies are gradually moving from the initial commercialization stage to the scaled development stage, with significant improvements in innovation capabilities and a substantial increase in the level of independent control over core technology equipment. In the future, new energy storage technologies need to address their respective challenges to support the safe and stable operation of high-proportion new energy power systems and promote high-quality social progress.
