Research on the Monitoring Method of Fault Characteristic Gas Composition in Gas Relays for Transformers

Gas relays are the key equipment that provides non electric protection function for transformers. At present, after the light gas alarm, the operation and inspection personnel are unable to detect the gas composition in the first time, making it difficult to determine the specific type of malfunction. This article proposes a gas composition detection device for gas relays based on the principles of gas chromatography and gas fixatives, and analyzes the adsorption and desorption rates of different gases and the detection accuracy of gases with different concentrations through experiments. The experimental data shows that the adsorption and desorption rates of different gases within different concentration ranges are all greater than 85%, and the detection deviation of each gas is less than 6%, which can meet the on-site requirements. The relevant research results of this article are beneficial for operation and inspection personnel to timely detect and determine the type of fault, facilitate faster handling of faults, and ensure the reliable and stable operation of power transformers.
