Optimization and Analysis of Microgrid Operations Considering Renewable Energy Integration and Energy Storage Systems Under Variable Weather Conditions
An efficient way to integrate grid-connected renewable energy generation (REG) on a broad scale is using microgrid technology. A microgrid's Energy Management System (EMS) is essential to maximizing the use of dispersed energy supplies and guaranteeing intelligent, safe, dependable, and coordinated operations. The management of an Energy Storage System (ESS) in a microgrid with a solar array is the subject of this study. It focuses on employing a converter to regulate battery charge and discharge operations in accordance with demand needs. The analysis of a microgrid's one-day energy management problem focuses on heuristic and optimization techniques to reduce the overall variable electricity costs in both clear and overcast conditions. Each scenario is assessed using output variables including PV power, grid power, ESS power, load demand, grid voltage, ESS state of charge, and electricity cost. This case study is simulated using MATLAB software.
