A New Star-Type Rotor Topology in Radial Flux Magnetic Gear
Mechanical gears have been replaced with magnetic gears, which provide the advantages of increased dependability and high efficiency in noncontact torque transfer. However, the magnetic gear still needs to be improved because of the problems of high cogging torque. This paper proposes an innovative design that solves the problem of high cogging torque of the magnetic gears. This study employs a two-dimensional finite element analysis and a genetic algorithm to optimize the suggested design. Also, a mechanical analysis has been undertaken to determine the safe working area of the magnetic gear; finally, the results have been presented.
