Escovando a História a contrapelo: a narrativa decolonial na obra de Marcelo D'Salete
It analyzes the work of Marcelo D'Salete, emphasizing its role in deconstructing hegemonic narratives about Brazil's colonial past and constructing a "history against the grain," following Walter Benjamin's concept introduced in one of his theses on history. Works such as Cumbe and Angola Janga are undeniable examples of this singular approach. By giving voice and subjectivity to Black and enslaved characters silenced by the narrative of the "victors," D'Salete challenges the "historical truths" of a structurally racist hegemonic narrative and fosters self-reflection on the deep scars left by colonialism in contemporary Brazilian society.
