An Improved CB-MRAS Using Voltage Model Integrating Stator Resistance Estimation in Induction Motor Drives

This research presents a speed sensorless control model applying the Three-Phase Induction Motor (TPIM) drive using the enhanced Current-Based Model Reference Adaptive System (CB-MRAS) method. The CB-MRAS model in the proposed control algorithm corresponds to the type CB-MRASCV, which applies a voltage model to estimate the rotor flux for the virtual current estimation stage. A proposed improvement corresponds to integrating the stator resistance tuning model into the CB-MRASCV algorithm to increase the accuracy of the virtual current in the estimation stage. Three cases were conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed speed sensorless control method: typical CB-MRASCV with correct stator resistance, typical CB-MRASCV with incorrect stator resistance, and enhanced CB-MRASCV with incorrect stator resistance in the Matlab/Simulink environment. The simulation results are analyzed and evaluated to determine the effectiveness of the proposed method in the speed sensorless control of the TPIM drives.
