The Impact of Rice Import Policy on Grain and Rice Prices in Indonesia (Case Study of Rice Import Data 2017-2023)
Abstract Government policies related to rice production in Indonesia include aspects of production, distribution, import, and domestic price control. This study intends to find out the impact of rice import policies on grain prices. The analysis used is a descriptive qualitative. Data analysis was carried out using data panel regression with the fixed effect method, and it could also be done using the inferential statistical analysis method with the Feasible Generalized Least Square (FLGS) estimation method. The results of the literature analysis so far show that the rice import policy has a significant impact on grain price stability at the farmer level, while the impact on rice prices is more complex and varies depending on external factors and other domestic policies. This shows that the rice import policy can reduce grain prices and harm farmers. On the other hand, the impact of the rice import policy on rice prices at the consumer level is not significant. This means that the rice import policy is not effective in maintaining rice price stability at the consumer level. The results of this finding need to be re-evaluated on the rice import policy in Indonesia.
