MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES IN INCREASING COMPLIANCE IN CLINICAL TRIALS: A SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

Mobile technologies play a key role in improving compliance in clinical trials, providing more effective interaction between researchers and participants. Modern technologies offer convenient reminders for taking medications, which reduces the likelihood of missing important steps and improves the quality of collected data. Online surveys and real-time support provide regular interaction between researchers and participants, increasing patient awareness and satisfaction, promoting greater involvement and responsibility of clinical trial participants. Compliance or adherence to treatment in general in healthcare is a relatively new topic, and the term itself has several synonyms: therapeutic cooperation compliance, adherence, concordance. The concept “compliance” was introduced into scientific discourse by David Sackett and Brian Haynes in 1979. The ambiguous interpretation of this concept indicates the relevance and the ongoing scientific discussion, reflecting the interaction of the key dyad in healthcare. In domestic science, the term “compliance” is used to denote the patient’s compliance with the doctor’s recommendations regarding treatment and medical interventions, conscious adherence to the doctor’s recommendations during treatment. In the field of healthcare, this concept covers a wide range of aspects, including adherence to medication regimens, visiting doctors, and following lifestyle recommendations.
