ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS' MATHEMATICAL CONCEPT UNDERSTANDING ABILITY IN THE MATERIAL OF INTEGER NUMBERS
The purpose of this study was to analyze how the ability to understand mathematical concepts in solving problems on whole number material for junior high school students. The subjects were selected using purposive sampling technique, namely seventh grade students at one of the junior high schools in Karawang Regency, then reduced to 3 students representing each category of mathematical concept understanding ability including high ability category, medium ability category, and low ability category. Data collection techniques used in the form of mathematical concept understanding ability test instruments amounted to 3 description questions with each question representing each indicator: 1) Changing (translation), 2) Give meaning (interpretation), 3) Interpret (extrapolation). Data analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results obtained from student scores show that students with high mathematical concept understanding ability meet 3 indicators, students with moderate mathematical concept understanding ability meet 1 indicator and students with low mathematical concept understanding ability do not meet the indicators of concept understanding ability. Keywords: Analysis, whole numbers, mathematical concept understanding ability.
