DEVELOPMENT OF ETHNOMATHEMATICS-FILLED PICTURE STORYBOOKS AS A MEDIUM FOR LEARNING MATHEMATICS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

This research aims to; 1) to know the process of development of ethnomathematics loaded picture storytelling as a mathematical learning medium in class V material properties – the nature of building space, 2) to find out the validity and practicality of etnomatematics charged image storylines as learning media in the class V Elementary School. This type of research is a development with the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). This research was carried out at SDN Pasiraman Kidul and SDN 3 Cikembulan with the object of research is a storybook as a learning medium and a student reading book. The type of data in this research is both qualitative and quantitative data. The data analysis techniques used are qualitatively descriptive analysis and quantifiable data analysis. Research and development of ethnomatematics loaded storybooks as a mathematical learning medium in class V obtained the result that; 1) development process at the stage of analysis known needs and interests of learners are mathematics charged story books as a learning medium, stage of design gained the initial design of an interesting graphic storybook, stage development gained results as a graphic book loaded ethnomathematics that has been declared valid, stage implementation was carried out to students of class V of Elementary School through two cycles and got practicality data through accuracy testing, stage evaluation gained improvement of graphic storytelling at the implementation stage of the first cycle, and the second cycle as well as evaluation as a whole. 2) The illustrated storybook loaded with ethnomathematics is stated to be very highly valid with a presentation of 90.86%, whereas for the practicality test an average percentage result of 91.62% is obtained with very practical criteria. Abstract
