The Relationship Between Providing Incentives and Teacher Performance at SMA Negeri 1 Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang

This study aims to determine the relationship between the provision of incentives and teacher performance at SMA Negeri 1 Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang. Incentives given to teachers, both financial and non-financial, are considered to motivate them to improve their performance in teaching activities and other tasks in school. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sample of this study is 44 teachers selected with the total sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire consisting of two main variables, namely incentives (independent variables) and teacher performance (dependent variables). The data analysis techniques used were the Pearson correlation test and the t-test to test the hypothesis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the provision of incentives and teacher performance with a correlation coefficient value of 0.735, which showed a strong and positive relationship. The hypothesis test also showed that the t-count value (7.23) was greater than the t-table (2.015) with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. This proves that the provision of incentives plays an important role in improving teacher performance at SMA Negeri 1 Karang Baru. Based on these results, it is concluded that the incentives given to teachers, both in financial and non-financial forms, have a positive impact on their performance. Therefore, the school is expected to continue to develop a fair and appropriate incentive policy to improve teacher motivation and performance. This research also contributes to the development of motivation theory in the context of education, especially in understanding the factors that affect the performance of educators.
