SCREENING OF SECONDARY METABOLITES PHYTOCHEMICALS AND ETHANOL EXTRACT THIN LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY (TLC) ROSELLA LEAF (Hibiscus sabdariffa L)
Rosella leaf is a herbal plant that contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenolics, steroids, and tannins. This study aims to determine secondary metabolites in rosella leaves through phytochemical screening and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) analysis. The extraction method used is the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent, phytochemical screening and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) tests were carried out. The results of research on rosella leaves showed the presence of secondary metabolites including flavonoids, tannins, steroids and traquinones. While the Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) test has an Rf value of 0.537 and a standard quarcetin with an Rf value of 0.562. The conclusion was carried out by phytochemical screening and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) that the leaves of rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L) contain flavonoid compounds, tannins, steroids and anthraquinones.
