Oligarchies and Dictatorships: Analysis by Mathematics of Uncertainty

Recent changes in governing methods of countries is the motivation of the work here. In this paper, we determine fuzzy similarity measures of countries with respect to their ranking as oligarchies and properties of democracy. Our approach is one that may open the door for research in fuzzy directed graph theory and applications. This is accomplished by considering a set of individuals, [Formula: see text], each member of which a fuzzy directed graph is associated. The set of vertices is a set of options whose directed edges represent the preference of one issue over the other. The fuzzy directed graphs are combined using a particular fuzzy preference relation. It is then determined under what properties a subset [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] will be an oligarchy.
