Energy-technological and design parameters for smelting ferroalloys in electric furnaces using the carbon-thermal process. Part 1. Parameters of ferroalloy electric furnaces

An analysis of the energy-technological parameters of ferroalloy smelting with increasing furnace power is presented in order to increase their efficiency. With increasing power of furnace transformers and using relatively poor ore materials, the energy-technological parameters of smelting using slag and slag-free processes. It is noted that increasing the power of furnace transformers does not lead to a similar increase in the productivity of the furnace unit since the expected increase in active power in the furnace bath for the process does not occur. The ratio of electrode current to operating voltage increases and the active resistance of the electric furnace bath decreases. As a result, the gap between power of transformers and the active power in the ferroalloy furnace bath increases, which has an adverse effect on performance. Technical solutions are provided to improve the operating efficiency of ferroalloy electric furnaces.
