Solution of the thermal conductivity problem for a viscometer element with heat sources

In experiments with an epitropic liquid-crystalline phase, when measuring ultra-thin (with this phase) liquid layers using a rotational viscometer, some difficulties arise in determining the temperature directly in them. The software package for calculating the temperature field distribution in a viscometer element using the finite element method ensures correction of the temperature sensor indication. The package is a necessary additional methodological support when using the viscosimeter set up.

Abstract

In experiments with an epitropic liquid-crystalline phase, when measuring ultra-thin (with this phase) liquid layers using a rotational viscometer, some difficulties arise in determining the temperature directly in them. The software package for calculating the temperature field distribution in a viscometer element using the finite element method ensures correction of the temperature sensor indication. The package is a necessary additional methodological support when using the viscosimeter set up.
