Evaluation of functional properties of steel scraper blades of different manufacturers
The article examines the factors affecting the performance of steel scraper blades for paper creping. The objects of the study were seven steel scraper blades of different manufacturers. A comparative analysis of the set of functional properties of six scraper blades was carried out relative to the reference blade, characterized by high operation characteristics. The composition, structure and properties of steels used to manufacture creping scrapers were studied. The characteristics of the coatings applied to the blade edge were studied. A set of functional properties that must be taken into account when choosing the optimal scraper blade is proposed. This set includes the yield strength of steel, sharpening angle of the cutting edge of the blade, coating thickness, hardness and dispersion of the coating hardness values. The optimal blade was selected using the Harrington desirability function. Based on the results of the comprehensive assessment, the steel blade closest in properties to the reference one was selected. The analysis enables to recommend the type of scraper blades for replacing worn ones without deteriorating the set of functional properties.
