FEM simulation and experimental validation of a high-frequency induction heating system with COMSOL Multiphysics
The induction heating technique is generally used in biomedical, steel melting, and welding industries due to its higher heat ing efficiency. This technique is applied to heat-conductive materials having a nonlinear behaviour. The analytical and numerical methods are applied for modelling induction and direct resistance heating processes. The simulation design and the empirical validation of an induction heating system are presented in this paper. The simulation model of an induction heating system is developed using COMSOL Multiphysics software. The temperature distribution inside the coil, the effect of the coil’s temperature on the heating efficiency, and coil inductance is analyzed. The electrical simulation of a high-frequency power converter is performed using Multisim software. The prototype of a 1 kW induction heating system having 115 kHz frequency is developed and the measurement results are analyzed. The analysis of both simulation and experimental results are discussed.
