Numerical evaluation of heat exchanger using nano-fluids
Development in nanotechnology is going up these days. Nanofluids used in engine cooling devices improves the efficiency of the system and helps in increasing the heat transfer rate affectively. Different types of nano-fluids with varying concentrations have been used. Thermophysical properties like dynamic viscosity, thermal conductivity, density and specific heat capacity greatly influences the performance of nanofluids in system. Numerous experimental and numerical studies have been done to evaluate the performance of cooling devices. A numerical evaluation of mini stainless-steel tube (ID=1mm, OD=1.5mm and Effected heated Length=280mm) at steady state condition is performed by using COMSOL Multiphysics 6.2. Mini tube, a heat exchanger is analysed at non-isothermal flow condition. Simulations have been performed by using De-ionized water, and by adding different concentrations of nanoparticles. Boundary conditions applied at the inlet and outlet of the section. Outcomes checked by varying important parameter like Reynolds number. Simulation results compared with experimental analysis which shows that there is energy loss in real testing. Simulated values of heat transfer coefficient and nusselt number are higher than original experiments. Graphical representation of important parameters like heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number are shown.
