Experimental study of the impact of aluminum foil and Mylar reflectors on solar panel performance
This paper aims at investigating the optimization of solar panel performance with the application of reflectors, particularly aluminium foil and Mylar. Each material is highly reflective, and both have been credited with the capability to reflect sunlight to photovoltaic zones. Sensors and an experimental apparatus were incorporated to study the impact of various reflector positioning and configurations as well as the properties of the reflector materials on the efficiency of the solar energy system. The effectiveness was determined under condition testing whereby aluminium foil reflector was discussed tested against the Mylar reflector. Data confirms increases in efficiency of the panel by use of both the materials fluctuations experienced based on orientation of the reflectors. Aluminium foil reflected a better light in some particular directions mor e preferential than Mylar while the latter performed consistently in different orientations. This study therefore calls for effective orientation of the reflector and the choice of the reflector material in order to improve the use of solar energy. The presen t results provide applied implications for increasing the efficiency of photovoltaic systems and optimizing the development of sustainable energy technologies.
