How Do You Make a Repair on a Contaminated Surface That Can't Be Cleaned
Traditional equipment and pipeline repair in the oil and gas industry often requires meticulous surface cleaning to remove oil and grease, presenting significant operational, safety, and environmental challenges. This paper presents Active Direct Adhesion (ADA) technology used in epoxy polymers as a novel solution to repair contaminated surfaces without prior oil or grease cleaning. Specifically, in addition to ADA technology, this polymer is reinforced with ceramic and metallic fillers to optimize mechanical properties and wear against abrasion and erosion, exhibiting exceptional adhesion to oil-contaminated substrates. This approach eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming surface preparation, reducing downtime and overall repair expenses. In addition, it offers a more sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional repair methods.
