Application of Multiphase Flow - Internal Corrosion Direct Assessment (MP-ICDA) Methodology to Liquid Propane and Propylene Pipelines – A Case Study
Abstract Internal corrosion poses a significant potential threat to the integrity of liquid propane and propylene pipelines, leading to safety hazards and economic losses. Multiphase Flow - Internal Corrosion Direct Assessment (MP-ICDA) emerges as a viable integrity validation methodology for assessing and managing the risks associated with internal corrosion in these pipeline service types. This paper addresses the challenges and limitations associated with MP-ICDA, including uncertainties in corrosion rate prediction and the interpretation of inspection results. Strategies for mitigating these challenges are proposed, including the use of advanced corrosion modeling techniques and enhanced data interpretation algorithms. In conclusion, this paper presents a comprehensive overview of the MP-ICDA approach tailored specifically for liquid propane and propylene transportation systems.
