Enabling Smart Manufacturing Through Big Data and IoT Integration: A Paradigm Shift in Industrial Processes
Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are being adopted in conventional manufacturing industries to shape processes into Smart Manufacturing Systems. Thus, this research investigates an integrated approach to deploying Big Data and IoT for improving process performance, product quality, and sustainability in industries. Two main techniques used in the methodology are as follows: It uses IoT sensors and devices to acquire data from the field in real-time, as well as huge volume storage systems like Hadoop to collect data from multiple sources and apply the data analytics process, which includes machine learning algorithms. Technologically driven solutions are connected for predictive maintenance and the corresponding change of process sequences and for flexible adjustment to changing circumstances. The success highlighted by this paper include a 66.7% reduction in production time loss, a 70% decrease in defects, and 30% decline in energy consumption per unit. Thus, a better inventory turnover along with a decrease in the order delivery cycle contributed to a more efficient supply chain and better protection of data guarded by efficiently developed cybersecurity. With issues like integration of old systems and data security, this framework presents the suite of how to modernize the process of manufacturing in a way that is both secure and efficient. The findings of this study emulate the opportunities of Big Data and IoT in creating a favourable environment for competitiveness, sustainability and customer orientation for the industrial domain thereby forming the premise for the evolution of smart manufacturing in the future.
