AI-Powered Virtual Reality: Transforming Education Beyond Conventional Approaches
This study assesses a Virtual Reality (VR) application that aims to improve students' comprehension of Python collection data types and structures in electrical and electronic engineering. The application allows students to engage with virtual representations of intricate programming concepts in an immersive setting by incorporating gamification and personalization features. Using wit.ai and Meta Voice SDK, a virtual assistant and example generator dynamically modify learning paths and examples according to user performance to promote interaction and engagement. In a user study with 48 participants split into two groups, the efficacy of the VR application and conventional pamphlets was compared. To gauge their levels of engagement and attention, both groups wore electroencephalography (EEG) headsets. Pre- and post-study scores showed that VR users' comprehension of Python collections had improved statistically significantly. In addition, the VR group's EEG analysis showed higher levels of engagement and attention than the paper-based group. These results highlight how immersive virtual reality (VR) technology can maintain focus and improve learning outcomes in software development courses.
