Enhancing Learning of Kirchhoff’s Current Law through Augmented Reality

This paper demonstrates the design and development of an augmented reality application dedicated for educational purpose to better scaffold knowledge transfer regarding Kirchhoff's Current Law (KCL) in higher secondary students. Students can touch and interact with virtual circuit components using the AR tool that makes abstract subjects more tangible and fun. The AR tool used on an experimental group and traditional instruction applied on a control group were part of a study. There was significant increase in the average knowledge post-test when compared to pre-test in experimental group as compared to control group. In addition, student of the experimental group revealed that AR application makes itself more engaging and enthusiastic in learning KCL The interactive nature of the experience allowed for a better understanding of circuit theory and experimentation with electricity. Overall, the results suggest that AR-based learning can be used to significantly deepen students' understanding of complex physics topics and provide an effective complementary teaching resource. The study also provides evidence for the utility of AR in wider STEM educational contexts.
