A Comprehensive Overview of advancing Radio over Fiber (RoF) technology: Challenges, Solutions Strategies for Future Prospects for High-Performance Connectivity

Radio over Fiber (RoF) technologies emerge as a prominent alternative for Upcoming broadband distribution, connection, and efficient combined networks, meeting the rising need for Audio-Visual content with the assured level of assistance. With RoF technology, the adaptability and mobility of wireless networks are combined with the high capacity of optical networks. It has a number of benefits, such as less complexity at the antenna site, less expensive access network construction, flexible distribution of radio waves among antenna places, accessibility, and sustainability. However, a number of obstacles prevent RoF communication networks from reaching their full potential. This paper presents a review of these issues, such as signal degradation, nonlinearities, dispersion effects, and phase noise. Furthermore, it explores various mitigation techniques, including advanced modulation schemes, linearization methods, and dispersion compensation, to enhance the performance of RoF links. By addressing these challenges, the paper aims to pave the way for the realization of robust and efficient RoF communication networks.
