QoS-Driven Cluster Head Selection Optimization in Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks for IoT Applications

The Internet of Things has a inclusive range of requests, counting, but not incomplete to, the management of transportation, the monitoring of health, technology, cities, residences, target tracking, and routing. These Internet of Things applications are made feasible as a result of the implementation of sensor nodes, which continuously monitor the entities and surroundings in the region around them, gathering and transmitting the data that is perceived in accordance with the requirements of the Internet of Things application. Evaluations of the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH), the Three-Layered LEACH (TL-LEACH) procedure, and the Heterogeneous-LEACH (LEACH-HPR) protocols. A self-organizing clustering method known as LEACH is responsible for distributing energy consumption among the sensors that are part of the network. Within the framework of this technique, the sensors are established into local networks. For the purpose of improving LEACH, the TL-LEACH protocol makes use of the Power-Efficient Gathering in Sensor Information Systems (PEGASIS) protocols idea. It was the notion behind this that select CH nodes may have complex hardware or extra energy from a battery incorporated into them, which would result in a reduction in the total cost of the overall network infrastructure. The conclusions specify that the LEACH-HPR technique achieves a higher level of performance associated to both the LEACH and TL-LEACH procedures. LEACH-HPR maintains node performance with 96.5% accuracy, retaining a substantial number of active nodes. LEACH-HPR has a minor accuracy boost over LEACH and TL-LEACH, but it is energy efficient, extending node lifetime.
