A 13-Level Inverter with Level Shifted Variable Frequency Switching for THD Reduction
The idea behind a multilayer inverter originated from the extension of inverters to more than two layers in order to lessen distortion from the basic sinusoidal waveform. A drawback of multiple level inverters is the need for additional switches, which adds bulk and expense to the system and reduces system dependability due to the increased number of components. The increment in inverter levels reduces the distortion in outcome. The distortion can also be reduced by employing efficient switching techniques so in this work, a variable different switching techniques have been tested with a symmetrical 13 level inverter (13-LI) and their outcomes are compared with 180 degree shifted adjacent level pulse span modulation. The MATLAB platform is used to build the model and variable switching scheme, and the usefulness of the outcome is examined via analysis.
