Enabling Confidentiality in Data Analytics for Outsourced Social Networks
Social networks, growing significantly in the past few years, have generated huge amounts of data, which leads to the need for efficient data analytic solutions. On the other hand, social networks contain sensitive data such as personal information and private conversations, which creates privacy and confidentiality issues. A novel solution, Enabling Confidentiality in Data Analytics for Outsourced Social Networks, has been introduced in response. We propose a new framework called ECDAS, which conducts data analytics of outsourced social network data in a privacy-preserving and secure manner without revealing users' information. The main concept is to encrypt the data before outsourcing it to a third-party service provider for analytics while the original sensitive information remains inaccessible. It allows valuable insights to be mined from user data while preserving user's privacy. Additionally, the ECDAS framework provides a mechanism for ensuring secure data sharing and protection to guarantee that only authorized access can be allowed to top the encrypted social network dataset. ECDAS can also scale and become efficient on small-scale and large social networks, making it even more flexible. In summary, ECDAS is a viable solution to ensure confidentiality in the context of data analytics for both outsourced social networks and semi-honest attackers while offering good trade-offs between privacy protections and accurate analytics performance, providing an enhanced overall user experience.
