Review on SIW Antennas for mm-wave band of 5G Communications

This work aims to provide a review and the advancement of substrate-integrated waveguides (SIW) antennas and arrays with different topologies and performance levels. Based on the literature techniques like gain improvement, size reduction and bandwidth enhancement are also covered. For the advancement of components that function in the millimeter wave range, SIW technology is a very good option because it serves as a bridge between planar and nonplanar technologies. As a result, SIW antennas and arrays combine the features of planar antennas include light weight, low profile, affordable manufacture and conform to bent or plane surfaces and high-power capacity, high gain, low cross polarization, and good selectivity of a classical metallic waveguide combined in an intuitive way with planar surfaces. Several papers on SIW antennas were reviewed and corresponding details were presented here.
