With growing pressure for eco-friendly initiatives, the research aims to identify the drivers and barriers that shape Green IT adoption in Sri Lanka’s IT sector. The objectives include analyzing critical factors, developing a conceptual framework, and offering actionable recommendations to promote Green IT practices. A comprehensive literature review identified several key factors affecting Green IT adoption, including cost re duction, government regulations, awareness, IT infrastructure, and top management support. These factors were validated through expert consultation and integrated into a conceptual framework. Findings revealed that cost reduction and IT infrastructure have significant positive impacts on Green IT adoption, while awareness and top management support also positively influence adoption, but to a lesser extent.
