Role of GenAI in Student Knowledge Enhancement: Learner Perception
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) emerged as a transformative force in the education system, presenting both opportunities and challenges. GenAI plays several roles such as personal assistant, instructor, and self-learning guide. Existing studies are extensively focused on the acceptance of GenAI applications using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) in the education sector and focus more on the educator's perspectives. This study explores the role of GenAI in the private university student's perspective focused on knowledge, willingness, and concerns. The investigation employed 100 data samples collected from undergraduate and postgraduate students through a self-administered questionnaire. The data were examined under the three hypotheses utilizing the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) technique. The finding shows willingness has a positive impact on the usefulness of GenAI. Thus, this study highlights that it is necessary to make students aware of their concerns and knowledge of the use of GenAI applications to maximize their benefits.
