Controller Parameter Self-Commissioning Scheme for Speed Sensorless Induction Motor Drives

Accurate electrical and mechanical parameters are crucial for designing high-performance controllers in induction motor (IM) sensorless control systems. In this paper, a self-commissioning scheme, which involves the identification of electrical and mechanical parameters, is presented for IM sensorless drives. First, the inverse-Γ equivalent circuit parameters required for the current controller autotuning are identified using the proposed single-phase voltage injection method, which only utilizes the time-domain response to identify electrical parameters while accounting for the influence of the inverter nonlinearity. Then, a mechanical parameter identification scheme independent of the speed controller is proposed for sensorless control systems. A sliding mode observer is designed to identify both the moment of inertia and load torque simultaneously. In addition, the identified electrical and mechanical parameters enable both offline and online tuning of controller parameters. Finally, the validity and effectiveness of the proposed methods are verified by experimental tests.
