WaveCryptor: A Secure Hybrid Framework Combining Encryption and Steganography via Frequency Mapping
This paper introduces WaveCryptor, a hybrid framework blending encryption and steganography to secure messages within audio frequencies. Each character in a message is mapped to a unique frequency, while additional "nothing" frequencies are probabilistically introduced to enhance obfuscation. The extent of these "nothing" frequencies is adjustable, providing a tunable layer of randomness. The mapping of characters to randomized frequencies is encrypted using AES for robust security. The resulting .wav file, producing seemingly random "tee-too" sounds, leverages auditory perception to obscure the presence of a hidden message. During decoding, the frequency map is decrypted, and non-coding frequencies are disregarded to reconstruct the original message. WaveCryptor, available as both a command-line tool and a web application, demonstrates a novel approach to secure communication by uniting cryptographic strength with the covert properties of steganography.
