The Role of IS/IT Strategies in Driving Business Transformation and Achieving Organizational Objectives: A Systematic Literature Review

This paper explores the critical role of Information Systems and Information Technology (IS/IT) strategies in driving business transformation and achieving organizational objectives. By employing a systematic literature review guided by the PRISMA framework, 26 scholarly papers were analysed to identify key methodologies, frameworks, and emerging trends. The findings highlight the importance of hybrid and industry-specific approaches for strategic alignment, the integration of advanced technologies to foster innovation and operational efficiency, and the alignment of critical success factors (CSFs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) with organizational objectives to enhance monitoring and adaptability. Furthermore, the study underscores the dynamic interplay of internal and external business factors in strategy formulation and the growing significance of ethical and sustainable practices in future IS/IT strategies. The discussion offers actionable insights for organizations navigating complex technological landscapes, emphasizing flexibility, holistic planning, and sustainability as core components of modern IS/IT strategies. These findings provide a roadmap for organizations aiming to align IS/IT strategies with evolving demands and societal expectations while maintaining a competitive edge in the digital age.
