Fixed-Point and Multi-Collision Attack on 5-Round SLIM: Sparse Linear Method Algorithm with Davies Meyer-Scheme
The rising frequency of cyberattacks has driven the government to enhance security measures not only in the physical domain but also in the digital realm, which, though intangible, plays a critical role in today's technologically advanced world. This shift has led to the development of more robust cryptographic algorithms, including block ciphers, stream ciphers, and hash functions, all of which have undergone substantial structural advancements while preserving their foundational principles. In this study, we utilize the Davies-Meyer scheme to evaluate fixed-point and multi-collision attacks on the SLIM 5-round algorithm. The results reveal fixed-point messages for every initial value tested, and from these, collision messages were successfully derived, validating the fixed-point attack. Additionally, a multi-collision attack was conducted, resulting in 2n colliding messages.
