Impact of biotic and abiotic formulations on quality production and control of black spot of rose cv. grand gala

The research was carried out during October 2016-March 2017 at the Model Floriculture Centre, G. B. Pant University of Agricultural and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with twelve treatments and three replications. There are several fungal diseases that affect roses during their peak flowering season, which lowers their market value. Economically, black spot, which is caused by Diplocarpon rosae, is the most significant and damaging disease that affects ornamental roses. Therefore, the present experiment was conducted to test the different concentration and time of application of biotic formulation i.e., Bacillus subtilis var. amyloliquifaciens strain FZB24 (manufactured by Novozyme South Asian Pvt. Ltd. under the brand name Taegro) and abiotic formulation i.e., sodium bicarbonate (Baking soda) and acetic acid (Vinegar) on quality production and control of Black spot disease of rose cv. Grand Gala under field condition. Foliar spray of standard chemical Carbendazim 50% WP @ 500 g ha-1, 6 spray at 7 days interval was found best followed by Carbendazim 50% WP @ 500 g ha-1, 3 spray at 14 days intervals which was at par with Bacillus subtilis @ 1000 g hectare-1, 6 spray at 7 days interval promoting quality production, enhanced vase life and black spot control. While, acetic acid and sodium bicarbonate do not have any significant effect on growth and disease control.
