Long Term Co-Application of CompostedPoultry Manure and Inorganic FertilizersPromoted the Soil Fertility and Productivityof Maize-Maize Cropping System

The appropriate combination of both organic and inorganic fertilizers is essential to achieve sustainable food production. This study was performed to determine the impact of poultry manure and NPK fertilizers on maize productivity and soil health.Maize crop was sown applying six different NPK levels: 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100% of recommended doses (250:125:125 kg ha -1 of NPK) with 3 tons ha -1 composted poultry manure (CPM) and without CPM.The CPM improved grain yield (21%, 26%, 36% and 51%, respectively) in all seasons. The average improvement in organic matter (OM) (69%), available nitrogen (N: 169%), total phosphorus (P: 78%), and total potassium (K: 20%) was observed due to CPM in all four seasons.Similarly, 100% of NPK gave higher maize yield and N, P, and K concentrations in grain. However, in interactive effect, CPM and NPK at 60% outperformed in improving grains per cob, 1000-grain weight, grain P, and K contents.Continuous CPM addition improved OM, available P, K, and total soil N.Moreover, CPM, along with 60% NPK, significantly improved maize yield, grain
