The main provisions of the national standard GOST R 55305-2023 «Undressed skins of farmed sable. Specifications»

In the national standard «Undressed skins of farmed sable. Specifications», which establishes requirements and methods of control of marketable properties, developed in 2012, provided for straightening of skins on straighteners of elongated shape. Despite the economic efficiency of using such straighteners (primary processing time is reduced by 70%), the common straightening of fresh-dry sable skins, sold mainly through international auction companies, is the round shape straightening. The use of this form of dressing entailed the need to revise a number of positions of GOST R 55305-2012, namely: the technique of measuring skins; size categories of skins; pass by quality sable skins. In addition, it was necessary to make changes in the characteristic of coloration of sable skins and description of gray hair groups. In this regard, the Technical Committee № 475 “Fur farming and rabbit breeding» included in the program of national standardization the development of GOST R 55305-2023 “Undressed skins of farmed sable. Specifications” for 2022-2023. The developer was the Federal State Budget Scientific Institute «Scientific Research Institute of Fur-Bearing Animal Breeding and Rabbit Breeding named after V.A. Afanas`ev». The purpose of developing a draft standard was to establish requirements ensuring uniformity methods for assessing the marketable quality undressed skins of farmed sable, the introduction norms that establish a common technical language. The work was carried out on the basis of the Auction Company “Soyuzpushnina”, the object of the study were 2283 pelts from 7 fur farms. The standard enacted on 01.10.2023 and applies to undressed skins of farmed sable.
