A NEW COPY OF THE PERSIAN-TURKISH VERSE DICTIONARY CALLED KÂN-I MAʿÂNÎ BY THE 17TH CENTURY AKSARAY DİVAN POET HASAN RIZÂYÎ

Verse dictionaries, one of the subjects of classical Turkish literature, have undertaken important tasks in the transmission, promotion and ultimately adoption of culture. Particularly bilingual Arabic-Turkish, Persian-Turkish and trilingual Arabic Persian-Turkish verse dictionaries have been an important part of education for centuries thanks to the rhythm and rhyme harmony that strengthens the ability to memorize poems. These dictionaries, whose main goal is to teach words and rhythm, have managed to find a place for themselves in Turkish culture in every century due to their popularity. The Persian-Turkish verse dictionary called Kân-ı Maʿânî written by Hasan Rızâyî (1599-?), one of the 17th century Aksaray Divan poets, is one of these. The work, first written in 1052 Hijri / 1642-43 Gregorian, is a parallel to Tuhfe-i Şahidî (copyright date: 1514), which has an important place in the history of verse dictionaries. There are currently 5 known copies of the work. In this article, a new copy registered with the number “B” in the Bursa İnebey Library with the number 1331 will be introduced. This copy, consisting of 34 leaves (1b-34a), was written in Cemâdi’l-âhire 1084/ September-October 1673. A feature that distinguishes this copy from the others is that it was corrected by Hasan Rızâyî on 28 Safer 1085 Hijri / June 3, 1674 Gregorian after giving brief information about Hasan Rızâyî in this article, information will be given about the publications made about Kân-ı Maʿânî, the introduction and evaluation of all copies will be discussed, and copy “B” will be examined. Keywords: Kan-ı Maʿânî, Hasan Rızâyî, verse dictionary, Aksaray.
