An Electrochemical Method for Decarboxylative Halogenation of Aryl Propynoic Acids with Potassium Halides under Transition‐Metal‐Free Conditions

Herein, an electrochemical method for the decarboxylative halogenation of aryl propynoic acids under transition‐metal‐free conditions is reported. In an undivided cell, diverse aryl propynoic acids and KX are employed to synthesize a series of haloalkynes. Mechanistic studies demonstrate the possible involvement of a free‐radical intermediate in the transformation.

Abstract

In an undivided cell, diverse aryl propynoic acids and KX are employed to synthesize a series of haloalkynes. Mechanistic studies demonstrate the possible involvement of a free‐radical intermediate in the transformation.
