Deformation processes during high-speed milling of aluminum alloys
Deformation processes during high-speed milling of deformable aluminum alloys are investigated. The features of high-speed milling in comparison with traditional processing methods are noted. Based on the results of experiments conducted during high-speed processing of deformable aluminum alloys, in the first set of experiments, the parameters of chip during milling with constant values of feed to the milling cutter teeth and milling depth were determined. In the second set of experiments, the chip parameters were revealed depending on the cutting speed during milling with constant values of the minute feed and the milling depth. According to the experimental results, the dependence of the chip shrinkage coefficient on the cutting speed has been established at constant feed rates for the milling cutter teeth and at constant minute feed during high-speed milling. Additionally, such parameters of the deformation processes of chip formation during high-speed milling as the angle of inclination of the shear plane, the relative shear during cutting, the rate of deformation of the relative shear, the angle of the chip texture and others are determined. Analysis of the data obtained made it possible to establish that the chip shrinkage coefficient practically does not change with high-speed milling with constant feed to the milling cutter teeth, with a decrease in feed to the teeth and an increase in cutting speed, the chip size decreases and chip shrinkage increases, the rate of relative deformation increases with an increase in speed and a simultaneous decrease in feed to the teeth (cut thickness). The obtained results are proposed to be used in the practical activities of enterprises of the machine-building complex during processing of deformable aluminum alloys.
