Narratives of unaccompanied adolescents in Mexico: views from the territory and emotional ties
This article aims to analyze the transit narratives of adolescents from Central and South America in a situation of unaccompanied international migration in Chiapas. It is based on a lifeline exercise that allows mapping of their journey and emotional elements linked to their migration status. Based on the perspective of emotional cartographies, the findings suggest that the narratives and the way in which the adolescents represent their journey show a strong emotional component linked to certain territories and the social ties established during their migratory experience. This sheds light on the impact of irregular migration conditions, the systematic violation of their human rights, and the importance of emotional ties with friends and family during their journey.
